"Not everyone falls for the murderous prince charming with killer good looks, but Roxy hasn't ever been very lucky."

With the Unseelie prince’s dangerously addictive kiss lingering on her lips, Roxy is appointed by the Seelie Court to investigate their king’s murder. As more faeries turn up missing or dead, Roxy must find the killer before accusations push the two courts into war.

One problem: the killer orchestrates a twisted game of hide-and-seek, as if amused by the web of lies they create. The catch: all the clues lead to an Unseelie prince being the killer mastermind – the very faerie whose touch Roxy craves.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

4.5 Stars

I was first approached about reviewing this book from my friend Cris of The Book Avenue. She knows how much I love the paranormal genre and thought this book would interest me. She was right! After reading the synopsis, I was intrigued and eagerly dived right in!
From the very beginning, I found myself being sucked right into the land of Faierie, a land ran by the Seelie, who are faie known for their illusions and the Unseelie, who are faie referred to as the Wicked and known for their extraordinary sense and trickery, have their own courts within the land.

Though at first I found it to be a bit confusing, in no way did I feel the story was dragging or lacking in any way. What I found to be confusing is that there are so many faie and creatures named plus all of their abilities that it was hard to keep track of especially for a huge paranormal fan like myself. I've read several books where something like this occurs and usually there is a glossary of sorts in the front or the back of books to help keep track of such things. I've found them useful before in the past so maybe if there were something like that to refer to it would help. There were a few times I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to finish it because of the confusion but I pushed on and am so glad I did!! I found that about 20% the story smooths out and has a good, steady flow. I also found a few editing mistakes but not enough that would take away from the story or that most people may not even notice.

Roxy, the Seelie princess along with her twin brother Preston, who is the Prince, try to discover who murdered their father, the Seelie King. Aiding in their search is Alexander, the Unseelie prince. Although Alexander and Preston have a long standing friendship, Roxy doesn't trust the Wicked prince. But even Roxy cant deny that she finds him extremely attractive. You can feel the chemistry and sexual tension between them.

Though at times I wanted to slap some sense into Roxy, her character is still strong and independent, which I love in a Heroine.
Alexander, at times is a bit arrogant and snarky but it doesn't make him any less swoon-worthy! I love a confident and sexy Hero.

Oh we can't forget about Ashton, a shifter and THE messenger to the Seelie king. He is one of the most feared warriors in the land and Roy's ex-lover.

You can read about their relationship in the prequel Archangel. It takes place about 10 years before the setting in Forbidden Beloved. Though you can read either book first, I would recommend reading Archangel first. I didn't and after reading it, I found that I wanted to re-read FB to answer some questions that I had. It also helps to answer some questions you will have from reading FB.

I would definitely recommend this book to lovers of the paranormal world, especially those who are looking for something unique and captivating with twists and turns you don't see coming. But for those new to it, I'm not so sure it would be the right book to start with. With the way it ended, it leads me to think there will be another book besides the prequel that is out. I really hope so! I need more Roxy, Alexander and Ashton!
I didnt want to put the book down and the only reason I did was because I'm a mother to 3 small children. When I wasn't reading it, I wanted to be. These books left me with such a book hangover that I couldn't even think about picking up another book for almost a week! My thoughts just wouldn't leave the story behind! That's how much it mesmerized me!
I laughed, teared up, and wanted to throw my kindle. So in short, I LOVED it!

These were my first Sarah J. Pepper reads and I'm hooked!

Thank you for taking the time to read my review and I hope you give this author and her stories a chance!!

I specialize in dark, paranormal romance – think “happy ever after” but with a twisted, dark chocolate center. Real-life romance isn’t only filled with hugs, kisses, bunnies, and rainbows. True-love can be more thoroughly described in times of darkness and tribulation. It’s in those harsh moments where you see what a person is truly capable of – both the good and bad. Sometimes prince-charming isn’t always on time, and the glass slipper is a little snug. However, it doesn’t mean Charming is not Mr. Right, and who says every shoe is the perfect fit?

"Warning: Addictive passion erupts from her mouthwatering descriptions" - recent review.
Sarah J. Pepper lives in South Dakota with her real-life prince charming. At a young age, she fell for paranormal books and now incorporates that genre with romance that thrives in the hearts of us all. When she’s not storytelling, she’s most likely biking, hoarding chocolate, or taking a bubble bath. Get a glimpse inside her head at www.peppersreadingcorner.com

"Forbidden Beloved" - Not everyone falls for the murderous prince charming with killer good looks, but Roxy hasn't ever been very lucky.

"Devil's Lullaby" -Cat craved his addictive kiss as much as she ached for his death.

For twenty-one year-old Gemma, life has never been normal. She knows nothing about her past and has been haunted by the same monsters in her nightmares for the last three years. Unemotional and numb to life, she feels disconnected from everyone. Until the very first day she cries. After that, nothing in her life is the same.

Her emotions slowly surface and she starts experiencing love, happiness, and anger, feelings she never knew existed. But they leave her confused and she doesn't know whether to embrace them or run away from them.

Her life only gets more complicated when she meets Alex. Sexy, arrogant, and secretive, Alex can get under Gemma’s skin like no one can. Yet she’s drawn to him by an invisible connection she has no control over. She’s also seen him before. In her nightmares.

Every part of Gemma’s mind is screaming at her to stay away from Alex, but every other part of her is begging to get close to him. But the closer she gets, the more she realizes Alex knows more about her than he originally let on.

As secrets about her past unravel, Gemma’s life becomes threatened. She needs to figure out what’s going on, before she winds up dead. But the only person she can turn to for answers is the one person she isn't sure she can trust.

5 minutes... I just need 5 damn minutes to contain myself... 5,4,3,2,1.... I FREAKING LOVE THIS!
This book is so much more than your typical fantasy story. First chapter and I was like...

I have always been a fan of Jessica Sorensen's writing in general. But I must admit that I have not read the Fallen Series so I really don't know what to expect from this book. But now one thing's for sure, I am super thrilled to read the next one.

The book is a mix of suspense, romance, heartaches and a lot of steamy scenes. Mmmmm... just the perfect ingredients to match one of our favorite subjects...FORBIDDEN LOVE. I loved how Jessica represented Gemma in the story. A girl who has always been detached from the real world, no friends, no feelings. no emotions. Until the moment she felt tears in her eyes, everything became normal...until she met the man who apparently have answers to everything in her past.

Alex is the key to her mystery. Trying so hard to resist their growing closeness, Alex knew what he felt for Gemma right from the very start. The strong force that pulls them close together is something that he just couldn't escape.

“I just can’t – I don’t have any control over anything when I’m with you and, honestly, I’m sick of fighting it.”

Jessica Sorensen has an outstanding ability to create stories that can make the readers transition their emotions from a feeling of love to hatred to falling back again. Her ability to make me respond emotionally to the protagonist vests me in the story, and keeps me turning pages. The love I felt between the characters and the scenes, well the SMOKY, HOT SCENES that created a stir in my belly are absolutely AMAZING!

"His green eyes are on me as he whispers that he loves me and I reply that I love him."

"Love. I wish it were real."
This is absolutely a book that I will recommend especially to those paranormal suckers out there who craves for a lot of twists and turns. Although there were some questions that left me hanging, but that definitely kept me wanting for more. Now I can't wait for the next book to come. I'm pretty sure there will be a lot more STEAMY scenes waiting and the exciting struggle of Alex and Gemma's fight for their love.

4 Stars for me!

The New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, Jessica Sorensen, lives in the snowy mountains of Wyoming. When she's not writing, she spends her time reading and hanging out with her family.

SYNOPSIS:

High-speed car chases, hiding out in overgrown bushes, nabbing the bad guy—all in a days work for Julianne aka Jules St. James. Sure growing up with a bounty hunter for a father was a little unorthodox, but she wouldn’t have it any other way. After all, how many sixteen-year-old girls can take a man down with her bare hands, fire an assault rifle, or become a chameleon by using fake identities to nab bail jumpers? On her father’s Texas ranch, she’s just one of the guys with her older, twin brothers, Remington and Colt.

So when Jules’s father insists she spend the summer with her absentee mother—a former Savannah debutant and current member of high society, she is more than a little pissed off. Jules has had little use for her mother since she blew out of town six years ago to trade garden parties and black tie affairs for being a bounty hunter’s wife. A summer in Savannah with Mommie Dearest means having refinement and culture shoved down her throat while styling the latest haute couture fashion.

But Jules’s father has another reason behind sending her to Savannah. The society family of Emmett Marshall, a white-collar bail jumper resides there. The mission is for Jules to get close to Marshall’s teenage son, Jackson, thus trying to unravel any clues about his father’s whereabouts. Locating Marshall could mean a hefty payoff —enough for Jules’s freshman year of college.

Since she's better at taking down a guy than hooking up with one, Jules feels like she's in over her head. Enter Wyatt Deluca. Working for Jules’s bounty hunting cousin, Wyatt's suave services are enlisted to help her reel Jackson in. The tattooed, motorcycle riding bad boy is a 180 from sweet, cultured Jackson, but the more that Jules hangs around with Wyatt, the more confused she is about her true feelings and her ability to do her job.

REVIEW:

This book literally just pulled me right from the start. Everything about Jules that happened within the first few scenes sucks me in because I couldn't stop reading it. Krista Ashe or better known as Katie Ashley surely knows how to write a good book that will hooked you in until the very last page. She has the ability to write and make people interested regardless of what age group you are in, whether its YA, Adult, Erotica or even inspirational ones, you only get the best plots, scenes and dialogues from her.

Jules is a clever girl. She's smart, feisty but fun. Working for his father's Apprehension team along with her twin brothers, Colt & Remy, Jules is ready to take down any bad ass guy there is. Come summer time, Jules was forced to stay with her socialite mother in Savannah, with whom she obviously doesn't have the best relationship with. As much as she wanted to say no, there are compelling reasons to stay there. She was given a mission by her dad to find pertinent information about a certain white collar bail jumper named Emmett Marshall and the only way to do it is to get close to Emmett's son, Jackson, a slice of a heaven guy who at that time was dating one of Jules' cousin, Brynn. But there's a bit of a problem, Jules is a chicken when it comes to guys! But it all became easy through the help of his cousin's stepson, Wyatt, who is as irresistible as Jackson. Will Jules find love in the midst of the mission?

This is a quick read yet full of adventure, fun and surprises; a great read for both young and adults alike. Not only that its a great escape from the usual books with heavy and complicated story lines, but its also very moving since it tackles a lot about family relationship, love and friendship. I can definitely see this becoming a series! A must read with a 4 star rating for me!
