To say that I LOVED this book is an understatement!  Who ever said that the sequel never lives up to the original never read an Andrea Randall book!  Reckless Abandon brings us right back where Ten Days of Perfect left off.  Ember is hurt and lost.  The man she knew for a short 10 days, the man that rocked her world, is gone.  He maybe gone physically but mentally Bo was never far.  Ember tries to pick up the pieces and in the process finds she is falling into old habit by the name of Adrian.  Ember is fighting to forget the one man that took hold of her soul.  In the way a beautifully written song can strip you to your core, Bo is the music and lyrics to Ember’s life song.  How long can Ember last without the man who completes the soundtrack of her life?

 “He fills my thoughts, my dreams, and my nightmares. The memory of him, and his touch, pound on the door to my soul with such force that cracks are forming in the wood. I do my best to act like no one is home by keeping the door locked and the lights off.”  

First I have to say BRAVO!  Andrea has proven that “one hit wonder” isn't even on her radar.  Andrea’s writing grabs hold of you from page one.  I read this book weeks ago and yet it feels as if I just put it down.  Words are a powerful tool and with that said I never want to meet Andrea in a dark alley!  Because that chicks got mad skills!  The way her words flood the page and with the feelings they create its no wonder everyone I talk to about this book agrees that Reckless Abandon is an amazingly written story.

I fell in love with both Ember and Bo the moment The Wailin’ Jennys lyrics poured from their lips in Ten Days of Perfect.  All of the characters in Reckless Abandon grab hold of you!  Well I take that back everyone EXCEPT Ainsley!  I know I know she was a necessary evil but boy do I hate her!  But on the brighter side we got to meet Regan and we now know that he will be the continuing story in book three of the November Blue series.  Once you read this book and hit the 73% mark you will know what is just so special about Regan!  Be ready for a reading marathon!  This is a read that will keep you tied to your e-reader till you read “The End”.  Once again Andrea has made me fall in love with a story that I will never forget and will be sure to read over and over again so a HUGE thank you is in order!  I am looking for to many more late night reads brought to life via one Andrea Randall!!   

The Interview:

1.      What was the inspiration behind Ember's character?  I wanted to read something other than the helpless virgin who finds herself unattractive, honestly. I wanted to get to the meat of a relationship and the meat of insecurities that go way beyond what happens in a mirror.

2.      I love that she comes from a free spirited back ground…is there a little of you in Ember? There is. She’s a fantasy version of myself; hippie parents, living on the beach, free to do as she pleases.

3.      Can you tell us a little about how you came up with the concept for Ten Days of Perfect? I broke my leg in April 2012. With loads of time on my hands I was reading a ton and decided I wanted to create an MC like I described above. I knew there had to be a musician, because music’s really important to me. I put that on the back burner, wrote the first “garage” scene, and took it from there.

4.      Did you find it hard to create the story within a ten day time frame? That kind of just happened. I knew it was going to be a lightning-quick attraction-explosion...then I heard Jose Gonzalez’s “Heartbeats” and thought “okay, I can do ten days. That sounds good.”

5.      Reckless Abandon has Ember making some hard life choices and I almost felt that there were points that the book could have went two totally different paths.  Did you have a clear cut end when you are started writing Reckless Abandon?  I thought I did. Then I didn’t. Then I decided to let them lead the way. The original outline for Reckless Abandon is QUITE different from how it turned out. I got a little too attached to Adrian for a second, so I went and wrote a bunch of Bo scenes to see where we stood. I made Bo prove some things to me.

6.      You have written two books with very strong secondary characters.  Can you share if you have books in the works for those characters? I do have plans for books for them. :) I can’t share much more than that without giving away the ending to RA. BUT, I can say, we WILL see Regan Kane again, hopefully soon.

7.      Will continue Ember’s story into a third book? It will. And, thank you for calling it “Ember’s story,” because, it is. :)

8.      Music became its own character in both of your books.  I know that the title of Ten Days of Perfect and Embers name were taken from songs.  Do you find it easier to relate your words with music?   I always have songs and soundtracks playing in my head. I want the books to read like one long love song.

9.      If you had to sum up both books in one song what would that song be? Oh Jesus. Um. OKAY...just off the top of my head.... “If You Ever Come Back” by The Script.

10.  Do you have a person moment of reckless abandonment that you can share? This writing thing I find myself doing ;)

11.  Now that Reckless Abandon is out and there is amazing feedback is there anything you would change? Not a thing.

Interview with Ms. Jasinda Wilder

Can you tell us something we don’t know about Jasinda?

I play the flute and the piano.

When did you first realize that you wanted to become a writer?

I published Preacher’s Son as something to do for fun and to see if I could actually sell any of them. Then I started writing Big Girls Do it Better as a cathartic journal entry (it is semi-autobiographical, but I’m not telling which parts!). When that turned into a series, I realized how much I loved writing. Then that sort of took off and found its audience, and the rest is history. 

So let’s talk about the book. Why do you feel you had to tell this story? Is there something in this book that is based on real life experience? 

I actually started with the title first, and tried a few other ideas to go with it. Then I remembered a friend of mine who went through something very much like Nell’s experience with Kyle’s death. That turned into an exploration of the effect such an experience would have on Nell. My friend did not react the same way as Nell, just FYI. She grieved and is doing okay, now.

What was your inspiration in creating the characters? Was it hard to do a story about 2 broken souls?

Nell and Colton are…all of us. They are everyone who has felt such pain that we have to take life one breath at time (wasn’t that a line in Sleepless in Seattle?) The inspiration for them was to explore the effects of their individual experiences, i.e. Nell’s refusal to grieve, Colton’s dyslexia and being alone in New York at seventeen. Was it hard? Yes. I came to think of them as real people, friends. To see them go through such terrible experiences was very hard. But we are all broken, in some way, aren’t we? And that, as I said at the beginning, is the inspiration.

There were a lot of good songs incorporated in the story, was it something planned or you just thought of it while writing it?

It wasn’t planned, actually. I’d been wanting to do a book with a playlist, since I’d read a few other great books with playlists or music incorporated into them. I always listen to music when I write and these songs inspired me.

Among all the books that you have read, which of these has significantly contributed to your writing style?

Oh god. All of them. Every book I read influence my writing style. One book may give me an idea for a character, another may influence my use of certain words or phrases. Bella Andre was one the first writers in my overall genre that I read, so I have to give her credit for inspiring me. I believe in the power of love to bring two people together and past any obstacle. I believe in the healing power of love, and the wonder that accompanies sex between two amazing people.

The book was out in just a few days and we have been receiving incredible feedback about it, did you ever expect that people would have such a warm reception over the book? How do you feel about it?

I never expected this kind of reception. I knew as I was writing, and after I read the first draft, that I had what seemed to me to be a powerful story that would likely touch a few people. I never, ever expected the amazing, overwhelming outpouring I’ve gotten.

• Coffee or tea? Coffee. Lots and lots of coffee.

• Lights on / lights off? ON! I gotta see my man.

• Boxers or briefs? (For your man) Yes! I like my man in boxer briefs.

• Favorite male body part? Do you have to ask? LOL!

• Do you believe in love at first sight? Hmmm. I believe that there can be an instant chemistry, a unique connection established immediately. I think real, true love has to be developed. You have to have trust and friendship and respect for there to be love.

• 3 things you never leave home without? (apart from keys, phone and money)
You said except keys phone and money, so I’m guessing that means my purse counts? What woman ever leaves home without a purse? Not this one. I almost always have mints or gum. The third thing? My husband. 

• Sleep in or get up early? Which do I do, or which do I wish for? I’d love to sleep in, but I’m up early. 
• Ever slapped a guy? Slapped, punched, kicked, broken pools cues and beer bottles over heads…Anna from Big Girls is a DJ, and that’s one of the autobiographical bits. I’ve had some crazy experiences. 
Any advice to give to aspiring writers?

Stop aspiring and start writing.

Any message to us, your fans?

I love you! You make this career so amazing.

And lastly, if I put my magic mirror in front of you, what would you tell yourself right at this very moment?

It’s only going to get better!

Jasinda Wilder has taught me a lot! I now know that some stories are made for at home reading and some are not to be read at 30,000 feet in the air. Especial not in first class beside a businessman who keeps asking if you are ok because you keep crying! I know now that the “ugly cry” is better left at home under the covers. Mostly she taught me that even in your darkest hour when you feel that you have nothing left you can always find the beauty of love. To say that this book rocked me to my core is an understatement!

“I want to.” It’s the answer to both of her statements.”

Falling Into You follows the journey of Nell and her childhood best friend turned boyfriend Kyle. Life doesn’t always turn out as planned. In an instant tragedy rocks Nell’s world and it’s in that moment that Colton, Kyle’s older brother, shows her that she will survive the pain but Nell is not ready.

“I wanted nothing more than to climb into the box with him and quit breathing, find him in whatever came after life.”

Two years have passed and Nell is still living in the same brittle state, lost and still in pain. Meeting back up with Colton brings back old feelings and Nell finds herself fighting what feels right. With thoughts of pain and a life lived on barrowed time Nell begins a new journey to find the person that she wants to be. Colton shows her that she needs to allow herself to feel. That she has to deal with the pain.

As we see the story through both Nell and Colton eyes we are able to fully understand tragedy along with the healing power of love. Anything worth having is worth work for. Both Nell and Colton learn that love is a fine balance of joy and pain but falling into love is never easy.

“I’m not just falling in love with you, Nell. I’m falling into you. You’re an ocean, and I’m falling in, drowning in the depths of who you are. Like you said, it’s scary in a way, but it’s also the most amazing thing I’ve ever experienced. You are the most amazing thing I’ve ever experienced.”

Jasinda Wilder has done an amazing job of telling a story of sadness while still allowing you to see beauty. It sounds cliché but Jasinda words play out like a beautifully written song. The music becomes the forth character in this story. Emotions are best expressed through song. The playlist for this book is amazing (When you throw The Avett Brothers in the mix you can never go wrong). This book delivered so much with in its 223 pages and is a must read for anyone dealing with death. When the ones we love die it is hard to pick up the pieces. We move on by mourning their life but sometimes that isn’t enough. When your soul attaches to another you are permanently bound to each other and not even death can sever that bond. The hardest part of death is the living. Thank you Jasinda! Your words have moved me to tears and brought me back to joy and that is a gift I cherish!

Interview Excerpt:

Can you tell me what you think your biggest stepping stone has been in life to get to where you are today? Any inspirations?

I think my biggest stepping stone to get me where I am was reading. Really, just developing a love for the written word and falling in love with characters inspired me to want to create a world of my own for readers to love.

Who are your biggest supporters and how do they support you?

My husband and my parents are by far my biggest supporters. They’ve listened to me for years ramble on about my books that went no where, and they never once discouraged me. By far they are my cheerleaders
and the people I lean on in all facets of my life.

Any strange writing habits that you have?

Talking to myself and doing gestures as I write to try and figure out how best to word an action. I probably look crazy doing that.

I'm curious about your nursing job and how it might have led you to choose this genre of writing. Do you think there's a connection somewhere in there?

I take care of pediatric special needs kids, so I don’t think there’s really a connection there. As far as nursing goes, I just wanted to do something totally different from nursing, and writing romance is about as far from the nursing world as I can get.

Is there a piece of you in any of your female characters? If so, can you tell me which character holds the biggest piece of you and what it is?

There are parts of my personality in each female character I create. I
try to put myself in their situation and have them react as I would.

You write some really hot and intense love scenes. Was writing your first sexual scene difficult for you and how did you know for sure that you got the right emotion with it?

It was very difficult. My face was totally red and I felt like I was doing something really bad and hoped no one came to read over my shoulder. The emotions I write in those scenes are what I believe the character is feeling at that particular time.

As you know, I'm a huge fan of Riff's bad boy persona and can't wait to read Rock My Bed. Is there a "Riff" in your real life that you were inspired by for his character?

I love take charge men, guys who aren't afraid to tell you up front what their intentions are. There’s no real Riff…that one’s is one of a kind.

Can you tell us your dream cast for the band members of black falcon?

There have been several different rockers that inspired the guys in Black Falcon. I like to take different traits from each one to create the perfect guys in my mind.

Any future events or book signings?

I’ll be in Columbus at the Wessin for a book signing April 20th with several other authors for “Columbus Authors Event,” and then there’s Las Vegas August 16-20th for the Naughty Mafia event. There’s also been some talk about heading out to Portland in the fall, but that’s not firm just yet.

1. We all know the gorgeous David Gandy was your muse for Ethan. Did you have any men in mind when you were writing if Jeremy and Darius? 

Yes I did. For Darius my muse is a Spanish model named Oriol Elcacho. I saw his picture in an ad one day and knew he was the one. For Jeremy I needed a rougher looking kind of guy. He is not considered typically air is a sandy brown. Someone like a Josh Holloway would work for handsome and has a less refined look, also his Jeremy.

2. Do you have any ideas for future novels/series planned out after The Blackstone series is complete? 

Yes. After I write Blackstone #4 I'll be writing The Rothvale Legacy. This series is about Ivan and Gabrielle from Blackstone Affair.

3. Do you have any habits or quirks that help to awake your creative side while writing? A favorite snack? Or certain songs? 

I like to take walks in the hills behind my house. I think while I'm out and it really helps me to work through sticky plots or trouble areas for me in the books. Sometimes the perfect idea just comes and I have to repeat it in my head until I get back home. I have to rush up to my computer and write it down STAT. I do have a sunflower seed habit which is bad for me. I try to drink herbal tea as much as possible.

4. What is your favorite book or book series? 

Your favorite fictional book character? Lover Unbound by JR Ward. Vishous from Black Dagger Brotherhood.

5. When did you first know that you wanted to become an writer? 

Four years ago I just started writing my first story. I don't know why I did it, but there you go. I quickly got addicted to writing. It started with one scene. Then moved onto backstory. Then my goal was to just finish a single book. Then my goal changed to trying to get that book published. In the meantime I had started writing my 2nd story. The 2nd story (Darius & Marianne) was the first work to get a publishing contract.

6. Any advice for aspiring authors? 

It sounds dumb but you need to write. A person can talk about writing, take classes on writing, be in writing groups, critique groups, talk to other writers, but in the end, the only thing that will get you there is your ass in the chair writing your own stuff. It's something you need to do daily. Every single day.

7. Do you see any famous actresses, models, etc. as your leading ladies in your novels? 

A very young Andie MacDowell would be the perfect Marianne in my head. Georgina could be played perfectly by Clemence Poesy. And Brynne? Someone like Sarah Ann Macklin.

8. What events/book signings do you plan on attending in 2013? 

I'll be in Boston in March. RT Convention in May in Kansas City. Vegas in August and again in October. Richmond, Virginia in December.

9. If you had to pick one, what would be your favorite literary quote of all time? 

"I almost wish we were butterflies and lived but three summer days. Three such days with you, I could fill with more delight than fifty common years could ever contain." John Keats. 1819 in a letter to Fanny Brawne. They were engaged but he died at 25 years old from Tuberculosis, and sadly before they could marry.

1. So Angel first I would like to say congratulations on your first book! So your dreams are coming true and people will be able to read your words. Can you give us a little insight as to why you wanted to write?

Thank you. Nice to meet you too, Pam. I started writing at a young age, anything that popped in my head, that sounded good me at the time I’d write it down, but it never came out the right way I wanted when I was youngJ. My mother told me when I was young that I had a great imagination, even now I think she would still say the same only that it’s a wicked imagination that I have now. I’ve always wanted to write, but over the years I never really got the change to do just that. I’ve always wanted to write and put my point of view out there. And now that I have done just that, I don’t see me giving it up any time soon.

2. What authors have influenced you and can you give us your top 5 books?

The author’s that have influenced me would be E.L. James, Melissa Schroeder, Jaymie Holland, Emma Holly, Cat Johnson and Bianca Sommerland. Love these author’s and how they write. As to my top 5 books which is really hard to pick,

1. The Dartmouth cobras’ series by Bianca Sommerland.

2. Fifty shades of grey trilogy by E.L. James

3. Gabriel’s inferno & rapture by Sylvain Reynard

4. Undeniable series by Madeline Sheehan

5. Stiletto’s INC series by Lexi Ryan

3. As you started Sweet Temptations did you know that you want write a series? 

Not at first. It was only going to be 2 in this series, as I progressed in the story; I knew I had to add one more to the series. When I chose my main characters I wanted them to tell their own story, it was hard to decide which two main characters I wanted to start with. It took me a while to decide, and I fought back and forth between Nate and Skylar’s story and Dominic and Chantal’s. Although Chantal and Dominic met before Skylar moved, I wanted to tell her story first. 

4. I adore Nate but I really wanted to throw my laptop when I read certain parts of this book. Is there a “Nate” in your life?

Lol. I nearly did the same when I wrote it. I wanted him to be like that, and many of my betas said they wanted to do the same. Yes, I very much have my own ‘Nate’ in my life, not completely like him; they might have the mood swing thing in common, lol. I met my “Nate’ 14 years ago, and wouldn’t change it for anything in this world, he’s my rock, my world, everything. There is nothing I would change in the last 14 years, besides I should have started writing earlier with this series, then I did. I want to thank him, for giving me 4 beautiful children that I treasure with my heart and soul, and also for the amazing 14 years that I have known and been with him, Love you, baby.

5. Skylar has been through some deep and very emotional events in her life. Without giving a lot away I have to ask with all the events that happened in her life why did you write her as such a sexual character?

Yes she has. I didn’t want her to become reclusive with what had happened to her, as most people would have done just that. I know someone that has gone through something similar to what Skylar has; I didn’t want her to close off to the world, I wanted her to have a back bone, be her own person and not let the events that happened in her past and present ruin her future. I didn’t want her to close herself away from the world, and wouldn’t let it run her life, she wants to get over the events and move forward although she did think about the events once or twice. She wanted someone to show her how to love and feel secure with everything and in herself.

6. I love the connection between Sky, Chantal and Craig. Did you draw from your own friendship to write theirs?

Yes I did. I had a relationship like those three when I was younger. We called ourselves the ‘Three stooges’ did everything together, like they have. I’ve lost contact with them over the years, but I didn’t my characters to do that. I have one very special friend now that has helped me write our friendship into this story.

7. How many books do you expect in this series and will Sky and Nate’s story in book two as I am guessing that Dominic will donate book two and beyond?

3 will be in this series. Nate and Skylar’s story continues in book 2 not as much as the first and the beginning of Dominic’s and Chantal’s story. And all will end in the third with the new characters. All characters have parts in each book. 

8. Will Craig and Alex be getting their own book?

Unsure, at this point. I really want to concentrate on the three in the series first before I think about writing their story. 

9. Do you think you will write the back story of Lucas and Skylar?

Yes I will, eventually, lol. I want everyone to read their story, so they understand more with what Skylar went through in her past relationship with Lucas. 

10. Can you leave our readers with one sentence that will make them want to read this book?

This story is about multiple life situations that everyday people go through, such as drama, romance, really hot sex, Jand will capture your attention straight from the beginning right to the end, leaving you wanting to know more?
