Thursday Sneak Peek from AC Marchman

Its Thursday Sneak Peek and what do we have? Drum roll pls.......
From the newest book of AC Marchman called STAY WITH ME, from the Callahan Series!

Who doesn't love Donovan? Here's a short teaser for everyone!

"There is traffic, so we will be at a standstill," Donovan whispers in my ear. His hand caresses my inner thigh, causing my leg to jerk in response . "Steady, baby. Now put the car in park." I do as I'm told, shuddering from the very thought of what he is about to so to me . "Spread your thighs," he purrs , his breath hot on my next. I part my legs slightly, giving him access to my already silkened folds. His fingers creep higher, causing goose bumps to rise on my sensitive skin. Donovan slides my lace panties to the side and plunges two fingers inside, causing me to let out a moan from the back of my throat. So, this is my payback from going down in him in the car while he was driving. Damn, I love revenge.

Blog Tour: Seven Years of Bad Luck by J.L. Mac (exclusive deleted scene)

Seven Years of Bad Luck
by J.L. Mac

Synopsis:

When twenty-six year old Kathleen Cooper realizes that she forfeited her dreams and aspirations of becoming a lawyer after a brash decision to run off and marry the insanely charming Aidan Cooper, she decides to regain what she lost over the course of their seven-year relationship and start fresh.

With a renewed sense of hope and determination, she moves to a different city, lands a new job, and meets the handsome Benjamin Chase in a serendipitous way.

But even with all of these changes and hopes of gaining a new life, Kathleen is still not happy with the person she sees in the mirror staring back at her. She is an insomniac. She generally has bad luck in just about everything she attempts. She’s clumsy, and even if Prince Charming fell into her lap, she would likely push him in the opposite direction, for fear of getting hurt or worse, hurting someone else. This time she can’t blame any of these things on her bad luck or her destructive marriage. This time, it’s not her heart that’s in danger. This time, she has much more to lose and everything to gain.

Will she realize her mistakes in time to repair the damage? Will she be able to reverse her shattered self-image and discover true happiness? Will she ever find her way back to the person she was before seven years of bad luck?

EXCLUSIVE DELETED SCENE:

I rolled over trying to muffle the obnoxious noise.

Oh for fuck’s sake, Chey!

I knew there would be no way in hell I was going to lay there listening to Tucker plow through my best friend. I was beginning to regret my decision to not stay at Ben’s house. He practically begged me and I wanted to say yes. I just couldn’t leave things the way they were with Cheyenne. I did the right thing and came home to set things right with her. The cheesecake and wine worked like a charm but I didn’t expect that I’d be subjected to the cruel and unusual punishment that Tucker and Cheyenne were dolling out. Another scream of pleasure came through the walls of my bedroom and right past the pillow I had my head buried under.

“Oh, hell no. That’s it,” I muttered grumpily to myself.

I had to get out of there. I scribbled down a note for Cheyenne and left it on the counter then all but sprinted from our apartment like my ass was on fire.

I swept my thumb across Ben’s name on my cell and put the call on speaker phone. He picked up straight away.

“Kathleen?”

Thank God!

“Please tell me the offer to stay with you tonight is still on the table.” A chuckle rumbled through the speaker.

“For you, the offer is always on the table for baby. Or the floor. Or the bed. Or the kitchen count-“

“Yeah, yeah I got it. I’ll be there in ten minutes.”

About the Author:

A. Meredith Walters has been writing since childhood and is the author of Irresistible Fear, the first book in a paranormal romance trilogy and Find You in the Dark, a contemporary romance. The experiences and interactions with her clients has been the creative drive behind most of her writing.

NIKKI'S CORNER: Ink by Holly Hood review

SYNOPSIS:

Hope didn’t ask for so much change in her life. She was happy living in Georgia for the rest of her life. Focusing on the things she loved the most: singing, dancing, and her best friend Karsen. This was effortless, she had no worries.

But all that changed when her mother decided to leave her dad for Pete, the Tae Kwon do instructor. And now Hope had to choose between staying where she belonged or moving far away to Cherry California with her dad.

After making the choice to move far away, to protect her father, Hope realizes Cherry is nothing like the hometown she’s used to. Everyone is rude, high class and she doesn’t fit in. Not until Slade comes along. He has never fit in and he is okay with that. And Hope is fascinated by everything that Slade is. All the way down to his tattoos and bat wielding rescue the first time they meet.

She knows she should stay far away from him, but it proves tricky as she discovers dark secrets about the town and people in Cherry, California. Hope doesn’t know who to trust as her life takes a turn from ordinary and depressing to dangerous and wild.

NIKKI'S 5 STAR REVIEW:

This is a mature YA Paranormal Novel

Ink is a book that held my attention from beginning to end! You have a girl, Hope, forced to move across the country from GA to Cherry, CA the summer before her senior year of high school after her parents divorce. She could have stayed in GA with her mom but since she had always had a better relationship with her dad she chose to go with him and her twin brothers to CA. to live in a semi run-down beach house owned my her grandmother, Nona.

On her first night in her new town, she ventures down the beach where she stumbles across Henry Park. What does she find there? A heavy metal concert. It's not something Hope is into with her being a ballet dancer but curiosity got the best of her. Ever hear the saying that curiosity killed the cat? Well Hope realizes there's truth to that saying when she's almost trampled in a mosh pit. Enter Slade, the tatted up bad boy rocker with a lip piercing and a shady past with a few dark secrets.

At her new schools open house, she meets Tucker, an attractive, all-American boy everyone knows and loves. Who wouldn't be attracted to someone like that?

Nothing is as it seems in Cherry, CA. Who can you trust? Who is being honest and who is a psychotic murderer? Well read the book to find out ;)

Ink is full of twists, turns, sex, magic, hot bad boy rockers, and murder. The story flows smoothly at a great pace. It is a must read! 5 stars!

Don't forget to pick up the sequel
Ink: Twisted Magic

Until my next post!

Blog Tour: Ember's Curse by Gena Lutz (never before seen preface & giveaway)

Synopsis:

For Prime-Werewolf Ember Stilwell, life has been far from normal. Decades ago, a vengeful Witch cursed her Pack, leaving the women of her line incapable of feeling love. When an organized group of immortal killers begin to stalk and capture wolves from her pack, she sets out on a path fraught with danger. Just when it seems the world as she knows it will be changed forever, she meets Collin, an Alpha Werewolf with a body built for sin. As her heart begins to heal, she comes to find that the demons of her past are not nearly as dangerous as the nightmares she will be forced to face in her future. Can finding her true love conquer all? Or will the ability to feel for the first time be overshadowed by losing everything else she holds dear?

NEVER BEFORE SEEN PREFACE:

"The beginning of the Primal pack came into existence quite by accident. Some might even call it a culmination of bad luck and fate. If it weren't for the dark witch, Alexandra, and her hatred for a beautiful vampire, this story would have never had a chance to be written. This love triangle was doomed from the very start. A raven haired vampire named Naomi and a seductive and cunning witch both fell deeply in love with the devilishly handsome Alpha of the Crescent Moon pack. Both women had a chance to win his heart but in the end Landon saw past Alexandra's bewitching beauty. He recognized the evil that lurked inside the dark witch. He noticed the way birds would go silent in her presence and pondered on the reason why children shivered in fear at her slightest touch. Within the vampires eyes he found his true hearts mate. Her kindness was beyond measure and her generosity knew no bounds. He cherished the way that the same children who feared Alexandra found comfort in Naomi's arms. The birds that wouldn't make even the smallest peep for the witch would ever so joyously serenade the vampire all during her afternoon hunts. One night when the moon was at it's fullest, Landon - in front of his entire pack - announced his intentions for Naomi. They would be mated that evening and would rule side by side for the rest of their days. The surprising news left Alexandra furious and with a deep thirst for vengeance. That same night she waited for the last of the wolves to disappear into the woods before she slunk away to her cave to mix up her revenge. The romantic candle light that filtered through the shutters as she snuck up to the lovers cottage fueled her rage but the moans of lust that rang throughout the night was her true undoing. Now more than ever she was determined to cast the evil spell she had just brewed. So behind the cover of Landon's home she quickly stripped her body of clothes and smeared her breasts and abdomen with a mixture of human blood and wolfsbane. She then began to encircled herself with sea salt. And after her circle was complete she began to chant the spell that would change all their lives forever. But as strong as her witchy powers were Alexandra was still very young. Her spell casting was amateur at best and the results of her spell didn't work out exactly as she had intended. The curse didn't attach itself to the young lovers that lay wrapped in each others arms unscathed in it's aftermath. But instead laid claim to the innocent unborn child that was miraculously thriving in the once barren vampires womb. Landon never abandoned his true love for the spiteful witch and when all was said and done the couple lived a very long and happy life. Now their daughter Brianna's fate on the other hand happened to be a different story. Her life from the beginning was anything but normal. From her father she received the gift of shifting. It amazed the pack at how swiftly she shifted, much more quickly than any other wolf. From her mother she inherited incredible speed and strength. Not a single wolf could match her endurance. From the witches curse she received the gift of a cold heart. It wasn't that she was unkind to her parents and her pack...actually it was the very opposite, she loved them deeply. Her coldness was directed at any would be suitors. It seemed that no man be they wolf, vampire, witch, or human could interest Brianna at all. Many years past and even more men tried to woo her but still not even an ounce of attraction to a man or even a woman, for that matter, was to be had. Then one day a lone wolf wandered into the Primal packs territory. He was apprehended at once and brought before the Alphas. The wolf stood tall and unafraid. No downcast eyes no cowering or trembling limbs in the presence of his captors. It was evident that he was a very powerful Alpha wolf. Landon took offense by the lone wolfs trespass on his land and also by the intruders lack of respect for his authority. The Primal Alpha had always been known for his kindness and where any other leader of wolves would have put the offender to a swift death, Landon decided to show lenience instead. So as he did thirty years prior he called his entire pack together under the full moon and announced the mating of his daughter to the newest pack member, Darius. Brianna had decided long ago that she was never to marry and was appalled at her fathers decree. So she had decided to flee from their village and live her life free of domineering men. But as she was about to shift for a fast getaway three wolves dragged the man who was to be her betrothed out from one of the cottages and threw him before her father. His long red hair shimmered in the moonlight like glass. His full lips glistened and she licked her lips at the sight of them. She sucked in her breath without letting a single bit of air out as desire swarmed her like a million wasps stinging her entire body at once. She took a few steps his way without thought and let out a loud gasp. At the sound of Brianna's desire Darius picked himself up and turned her way. His wolf howled through his human lips and his green eyes dilated fully as he drank in the sight of his true hearts mate. After that night Brianna's cold heart was thawed and she to was able to live a happy life and bare many of her and Darius' children. But unfortunately in their female offspring the curse continued. The male and female cubs both inherited their mothers strength and speed. But it was the women from the Primal Alpha line that would never feel attraction or find love until they somehow found their true hearts mate. And throughout the centuries the Primal Alpha women began to scatter all around the world. A group of them forming an extension of their original pack. They called themselves Prime Breed. A large majority of the lines Alpha females died out over the centuries, because of their inability to mate, and so the men of the pack gradually took over. And so,except for a small few, the original Primal line was all but extinct. Until fate yet again deemed to step in and have it's final say. "

With all their past troubles and demons ready to emerge, can they escape the undeniable pull they have to each other, or will the dark past they both possess prove to be too difficult and keep them apart?

INTERVIEW WITH THE AUTHOR:

We had the honor of chatting with Angel Steel and her writing and her upcoming book Sweet Temptations.  Here is what she had to say

1. So Angel first I would like to say congratulations on your first book! So your dreams are coming true and people will be able to read your words. Can you give us a little insight as to why you wanted to write?
Thank you. Nice to meet you too, Pam. I started writing at a young age, anything that popped in my head, that sounded good me at the time I’d write it down, but it never came out the right way I wanted when I was youngJ. My mother told me when I was young that I had a great imagination, even now I think she would still say the same only that it’s a wicked imagination that I have now. I’ve always wanted to write, but over the years I never really got the change to do just that. I’ve always wanted to write and put my point of view out there. And now that I have done just that, I don’t see me giving it up any time soon.
2. What authors have influenced you and can you give us your top 5 books?
The author’s that have influenced me would be E.L. James, Melissa Schroeder, Jaymie Holland, Emma Holly, Cat Johnson and Bianca Sommerland. Love these author’s and how they write. As to my top 5 books which is really hard to pick,

1. The Dartmouth cobras’ series by Bianca Sommerland.

2. Fifty shades of grey trilogy by E.L. James

3. Gabriel’s inferno & rapture by Sylvain Reynard

4. Undeniable series by Madeline Sheehan

5. Stiletto’s INC series by Lexi Ryan

3. As you started Sweet Temptations did you know that you want write a series?

Not at first. It was only going to be 2 in this series, as I progressed in the story; I knew I had to add one more to the series. When I chose my main characters I wanted them to tell their own story, it was hard to decide which two main characters I wanted to start with. It took me a while to decide, and I fought back and forth between Nate and Skylar’s story and Dominic and Chantal’s. Although Chantal and Dominic met before Skylar moved, I wanted to tell her story first.

4. I adore Nate but I really wanted to throw my laptop when I read certain parts of this book. Is there a “Nate” in your life?
Lol. I nearly did the same when I wrote it. I wanted him to be like that, and many of my betas said they wanted to do the same. Yes, I very much have my own ‘Nate’ in my life, not completely like him; they might have the mood swing thing in common, lol. I met my “Nate’ 14 years ago, and wouldn’t change it for anything in this world, he’s my rock, my world, everything. There is nothing I would change in the last 14 years, besides I should have started writing earlier with this series, then I did. I want to thank him, for giving me 4 beautiful children that I treasure with my heart and soul, and also for the amazing 14 years that I have known and been with him, Love you, baby.

5. Skylar has been through some deep and very emotional events in her life. Without giving a lot away I have to ask with all the events that happened in her life why did you write her as such a sexual character?
Yes she has. I didn’t want her to become reclusive with what had happened to her, as most people would have done just that. I know someone that has gone through something similar to what Skylar has; I didn’t want her to close off to the world, I wanted her to have a back bone, be her own person and not let the events that happened in her past and present ruin her future. I didn’t want her to close herself away from the world, and wouldn’t let it run her life, she wants to get over the events and move forward although she did think about the events once or twice. She wanted someone to show her how to love and feel secure with everything and in herself.

6. I love the connection between Sky, Chantal and Craig. Did you draw from your own friendship to write theirs?
Yes I did. I had a relationship like those three when I was younger. We called ourselves the ‘Three stooges’ did everything together, like they have. I’ve lost contact with them over the years, but I didn’t my characters to do that. I have one very special friend now that has helped me write our friendship into this story.

7. How many books do you expect in this series and will Sky and Nate’s story in book two as I am guessing that Dominic will donate book two and beyond?
3 will be in this series. Nate and Skylar’s story continues in book 2 not as much as the first and the beginning of Dominic’s and Chantal’s story. And all will end in the third with the new characters. All characters have parts in each book.

8. Will Craig and Alex be getting their own book?
Unsure, at this point. I really want to concentrate on the three in the series first before I think about writing their story.

9. Do you think you will write the back story of Lucas and Skylar?
Yes I will, eventually, lol. I want everyone to read their story, so they understand more with what Skylar went through in her past relationship with Lucas.

10. Can you leave our readers with one sentence that will make them want to read this book?
This story is about multiple life situations that everyday people go through, such as drama, romance, really hot sex, Jand will capture your attention straight from the beginning right to the end, leaving you wanting to know more?

Once again thank you Angel and we at The Book Avenue wish you the best of luck with you book and every book to come!

Thursday Sneak Peek: Pieces of Lies by Angela Richardson

--From First Chapter--
Pieces of Lies
Angela Richardson
7th January 2013

He finally returned to looking back at me, staring into my eyes sweetly as he often did, and then he looked down at my dress. “Jesus Christ Norah, you look, I mean, you look, I mean,” Josh took a deep breath.

“Well, I hope I look good enough to be a Stepford wife?”

Josh composed himself from his staggered breathing; “You look un-bel-ievable.”

He then reached across to me and held my hands. My heart began racing, and suddenly, I was aware of the sensation I was having inside. It felt electric and thrilling, hot and pulsating, and I wanted more.

His hands let go of mine but then slid up my arms, grazing the skin as they travelled up to my shoulders and finally coming to rest around my neck. “Norah.” Josh breathed my name, making it sound like pure want and need. It rolled off his tongue so smoothly and I felt my thighs twitch by how much I enjoyed him saying my name like that. He took a step forward, reaching out and cupping my cheek in his hand, using his thumb to smooth the skin near my mouth. I licked my lips and pulled him a little closer, clearly directing him that he was more than welcome to continue. As his face began to draw close to mine, my hands gripped onto his back, driven by excitement.

This was it, our first kiss, the moment had arrived.

I watched as his lips moved towards my lips, and I began to close my eyes as we were about to take the next step, crossing the line over from friendship to something more. So much more. I was ready and I wanted it. My heart was bracing for an explosion of fireworks that I believed were imminent when…

Sneak Peek with Kahlen Aymes

The wonderful Kahlen Aymes has allowed us a sneak peek from the 3rd book in The Remembrance Trilogy.  Book three is called A Love Like This and Kahlen is still hard at work making it just right for us!  If the third book is anything like this sneak peak you will be on the edge of your seat for more!  This will be at the top of my TBR list when it comes out.

Enjoy~

The music coming from the band was a cover mixture of various artists; there were people dancing and the lights were low.  The atmosphere was much the same as it’d been the night when I’d found that asshole Moore here with my Julia.  That night started out badly, but where it ended couldn’t have been better.

I still thought about that night all the time.  The kissing on the dance floor that finally connected Julia and I after months of denying the love and the lovemaking afterward had been so fucking profound the earth had moved.  Jesus, the thought of it still rocked me to the core.  Fuck, it had been hotter than hell.  We didn’t even have sex in the traditional sense, but it had been one of the most intimate nights of our lives.  Every time we touched, still amazed at the intensity.

The music pulsed and my eyes moved from the couple on the dance floor to the woman walking toward our table.  When Julia reached me, her hand found its way to the top of my head and her fingers threaded through the hair at my forehead, pushing it back.  The sensation of her touch felt wonderful and my lids dropped over my eyes right before she leaned in to kiss my temple.  Her perfume only added to the miracle of Julia and I reached for her free hand.

My hand slid automatically around her back and pulled her close to my side as we walked through the hotel and up in the elevators.  I drew in a deep breath.

“What’s going on with Ellie and Harris?”   Ellie would have told her everything, and if I knew my wife, it was bugging her.

“They’re struggling a little.  He’s asked her to marry him multiple times and she won’t agree,” she said softly.  Her hand reached around my waist and she leaned her head on my shoulder.
“What?  That’s crazy.  Isn’t it?  I thought she loved the guy.”  I felt her head nod against me and I turned mine to place a lingering kiss on her forehead as we walked together.

“She does.  But they’ve distanced some due to his traveling with the band and the demands of her job.  They’ll work it out.  You have enough to worry about,” she said softly as we made our way though the hotel room door.

Finally alone.  I reached out and grabbed her arm, pulling her roughly back into my arms while my eager mouth sought hers.  “Julia, come here.”

I gathered her close to my chest and her arms slid up over my chest and around my neck as we kissed hungrily and I turned her toward the bed.  It hadn’t escaped my notice that this was the same suite we stayed in on the night we were married.  I was aware of it earlier as we showered and rushed out, but now I let my mind wrap around it.  My perfect girl must have conspired with Jenna.

We kissed for a few minutes, each of us caressing and grasping, feasting on the other’s mouth like we were starving.  “God, you taste so good,” I murmured as Julia turned her mouth away from mine to gasp for breath.  I slid my hand up her back to twine in the hair at her nape.  “This suite…” I murmured as my arm tightened around her waist to lift her onto the bed and follow her down, never letting go of her.

Julia nodded against my neck, her mouth kissing along the skin.  “Yes,” she answered breathlessly.  “We have it all weekend.”

I settled down on top of her, and she welcomed me into the cradle of her body, arching up to meet me.  I pressed my erection into her softness and pushed my hips against hers in a slow rhythm.  “Mmmm… Julia.”  I pushed up her sweater with eager hands and started to kiss her again but she pulled back slightly, her hands threading through the hair at both of my temples.

“Ryan, you need to rest, my love.  I’ll give you a back rub to relax you so you can sleep.”
I growled in protest.  “I need you.  I want you.  Right now.”

She smiled and continued to stroke my hair.  “Baby, we have time.”  Her luscious mouth reached up for mine and she sucked the top lip between both of hers.  “All weekend…”
My hand continued its quest upward underneath the soft cashmere toward the swelling flesh I wanted.  My hand cupped around it gently and the pebbled nipple brushed my palm.  Her breath rushed out causing even more blood to rush into my dick.

“I’ll sleep when I’m dead. Make love with me, Julia. I’m so hard it hurts.  Please.”  My free hand found her hip and I held her in place as I ground my hips into hers.  “God, I’ve missed you.”
“I’ll take care of you, but I want you to relax.  Lie back.”

I sighed against the skin of her throat as I pulled the neckline of her sweater down.  “Take this damn thing off,” I commanded.

Fast 5 Questions

1. Can you describe your write style in one sentence?
I would say it's a little wordy and enthusiastic, but then again, so am I, but it's my artistic outlet, the way I express myself, so I jump in whole heartedly.

2. What are your top 5 books
1. Pride and Predjudice by Jane Austen
2. American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis
3. Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice
4. The Fifty Shades trilogy by E.L James
5. The Opportunist / Dirty Red series by Tarryn Fisher

3. If you were not writing what would you be doing instead?
Movie Critic. I love movie scripts as much as books. There is so much creative vision in making a script come to life. I spent countless hours growing up analyzing and memorizing scripts in movies by Quentin Tarrantino, Martin Scorsese, Guy Ritchie, John Hughes...to name a few... and at present, I'm currently obsessed with Christopher Nolan's scriptwriting.

4. If you had to give up all but one of the following what would you keep. Facebook, Twitter, your phone or your laptop?
Laptop. Had a meltdown recently when my laptop broke down and I had to replace it. My family and myself would certainly say laptop! I write on my laptop, surf the net, stay connected with friends and family all over the world. It's part of the family :-)

5. Lastly, if you had to recommend one author other than yourself who would it be and why?
Tarryn Fisher. I think she is one to watch. I love her writing style. It has an edge and a sense of reality to the characters that I just adore and can relate to on so many levels. Her stories are unpredictable and she doesn't seem to care that her characters are not always likeable. I love that boldness about her work. It's risky and raw and very entertaining.

WATCH OUT FOR TOMORROW'S POST AS WE GIVE AN EXCERPT OF PIECES OF LIES.
