NIKKI'S CORNER: Ink by Holly Hood review

SYNOPSIS:

Hope didn’t ask for so much change in her life. She was happy living in Georgia for the rest of her life. Focusing on the things she loved the most: singing, dancing, and her best friend Karsen. This was effortless, she had no worries.

But all that changed when her mother decided to leave her dad for Pete, the Tae Kwon do instructor. And now Hope had to choose between staying where she belonged or moving far away to Cherry California with her dad.

After making the choice to move far away, to protect her father, Hope realizes Cherry is nothing like the hometown she’s used to. Everyone is rude, high class and she doesn’t fit in. Not until Slade comes along. He has never fit in and he is okay with that. And Hope is fascinated by everything that Slade is. All the way down to his tattoos and bat wielding rescue the first time they meet.

She knows she should stay far away from him, but it proves tricky as she discovers dark secrets about the town and people in Cherry, California. Hope doesn’t know who to trust as her life takes a turn from ordinary and depressing to dangerous and wild.

NIKKI'S 5 STAR REVIEW:

This is a mature YA Paranormal Novel

Ink is a book that held my attention from beginning to end! You have a girl, Hope, forced to move across the country from GA to Cherry, CA the summer before her senior year of high school after her parents divorce. She could have stayed in GA with her mom but since she had always had a better relationship with her dad she chose to go with him and her twin brothers to CA. to live in a semi run-down beach house owned my her grandmother, Nona.

On her first night in her new town, she ventures down the beach where she stumbles across Henry Park. What does she find there? A heavy metal concert. It's not something Hope is into with her being a ballet dancer but curiosity got the best of her. Ever hear the saying that curiosity killed the cat? Well Hope realizes there's truth to that saying when she's almost trampled in a mosh pit. Enter Slade, the tatted up bad boy rocker with a lip piercing and a shady past with a few dark secrets.

At her new schools open house, she meets Tucker, an attractive, all-American boy everyone knows and loves. Who wouldn't be attracted to someone like that?

Nothing is as it seems in Cherry, CA. Who can you trust? Who is being honest and who is a psychotic murderer? Well read the book to find out ;)

Ink is full of twists, turns, sex, magic, hot bad boy rockers, and murder. The story flows smoothly at a great pace. It is a must read! 5 stars!

Don't forget to pick up the sequel
Ink: Twisted Magic
