Because of Low
“Yes, I came back. My heart never left you.” “I miss you.” Every second of every day,” I whispered. Her eyes followed me until I was inches from her. “I trust you.” ― Abbi Glines, Because of Low |
This book is amazing and I loved it!
The story is about two souls who found love at the right place at wrong time. Due to some family issues, both of them became too hesitant to open up and let each one in, causing their relationship a painful spin off.
I came to admire Marcus Hardy ever since the first book. He's a good son, brother and a great friend to everyone. He feels passionately protective of his family that he is willing to give up everything for their own happiness, even if it means losing the girl he had ever loved.
Willow on the other hand is a very nice, sweet and forgiving girl. Due to some unfortunate circumstances caused by her crazy, bitch sister, she spends most of the times homeless and sometimes lucky enough to at least spend the night in her best friend’s place, Cage York. Cage has been Willow’s safety blanket. He has always been there for her since their childhood days. Although a self-confessed man whore, Cage is a whole lot different person when it comes to Low (and I really loved him for that. Lol). He deeply cares for her and is very much vocal about his ridiculous idea that someday, he will marry her. But Low thought of it otherwise, she knows her love for Cage is strong but purely platonic. So when she fell for Marcus, she instantly knew the difference. She starts to find herself wanting to trust him, even though she knows that girls with such lower class as hers don’t play a score in Marcus’ world.
That of course wasn't true! Marcus felt intensely the same way for her, so much that it hurts! But is he willing to give up everything now for her? Marcus loves his family, that I know for sure, but he’s one such great guy who without a doubt deserves to have a piece of happy ending. (So go for Low, Marcus! Never let her go.) He did some questionable decisions at the end though, pretty understandable provided the circumstances. But time has had its way with him, making him realized that life is worth more meaningful with Low by her side.
Marcus and Low’s story has one of the best chemistry I have read in a while. Abbi Glines surely knows how to integrate just the right amount of drama in her stories. Sweet but not too cheesy, serious but not dragging, intimate but not offensive. Her stories reveal real life situations and decisions that let her readers feel exactly the same emotion as what the characters are into. Simply incredible!
